Walter Ruttmann's classic portrait-in-motion of Berlin in 1927, set to the 1993 re-score by Timothy Brock (which I personally prefer to the original score). A true masterpiece of the silent film era, and a historical treasure today.

Thought I would leave this here as an interesting perspective on the average metropolis ca. 1927, especially since Lackadaisy begins in that year. Though St. Louis was no metropolis by comparison, I can't imagine it being too different on the whole. And if Lackadaisy ever does feature larger cities, like New York, then you'll know just what to expect (no pressure intended, Tracy :wink:).

Indeed. Quite a large portion of the city as shown in this film, both buildings and population, was not to survive the 1940's.

But ah, what a center of culture it was in the interwar years.
