Ugh, I loved the book Catch-22, but the movie made me want to burrow into the ground with displeasure. And I really like Alan Arkin, so it was a huge disappointment.

Also, let me just toss out anything by Werner Herzog. That man is my new obsession.

This weekend on TV, I caught this 2004 danish puppeteer movie:

Strings (Part 1 of 9)

If you liked "The Dark Crystal", you're probably going to like this one.

I'm not giving any spoilers on purpose, so you can have fun figuring stuff on your own, e. g. how houses and doors work.

Not sure if this is a cult film, but I just finished watching The Whale Rider. I haven't seen it in years, but watching it again reminded me why I love it.

Hmmm...

The Princess Bride, Labyrinth (David Bowie in tights! *swoon*), Donnie Darko, The Lost Boys, The Mask, the Hannibal movies?, Mummy movies?, Indiana Jones, The Nightmare before Christmas, Sleepy Hollow, Highlander.....Legally Blonde?

Oh I got some for ya.

Any Don Bluth film made in the 80s (especialy The Secret of NIMH)

The Wickerman. And no not that godawfull re-make with Nick Cage. The good one with Christopher Lee (Count Dooku) in it.

And I guess The Secret of Kells could count, even though it's kinda new, and almost won an oscar, (lost to UP).

One, I love Amadeus, though sadly so few people I know have seen it ;o;.

Amadeus is utter brilliance. I have it.

I'll add Velvet Goldmine to the list. Christian Bale, Ewan Mcgregor, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Eddie Izzard. Lots of gayness and lots of glam rock, but also a genuinely good film and story.

It's also a favourite film of my mum, who originally got me to see it, I seem to remember :)

Wow. Honestly, most of my favorite movies could be identified as 'cult classics', like:

Animal House (or any National Lampoon film)
Any and all movies by John Hughes (Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club, etc.)
Disney films (Hunchback FTW)
Pulp Fiction
The Boondock Saints
Rocky Horror
Good Burger
Bill and Ted
The Goonies (I loved this one since I was really young; didn't even know it was a cult classic)
Anything by Kevin Smith (Clerks, Zack and Miri, etc.)
Little Miss Sunshine

I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting...

To imply that you can only be a critic if you're payed and employed as such...
